Inside the Painting

In this work,"Inside the Painting", I have placed myself in the foreground painting a landscape. I blended an image of myself among the trees in the background of the painting signifying how the artist is an intrinsic part of the art that they create. Art is an expression of the artist and the artist can be found in elements of their own work. I want to show how the lines between the artist and their art are blurred. For me, so much time and effort goes into what I produce that my art feels like an extension of myself. What I paint and how I paint it, portray how I view the world in relation to myself. The person who sees my art gets a glimpse into a piece of my identity.

I have also placed my painting outside the window. Yes, I am painting what I see but also I want to show the sense that once the artist releases their work out into the world, it is no longer solely their own. People will view it and interpret it in ways that are different from the original intent. At the point, art
